We would have arrived here much sooner had our ancestors put up more of a fight or had our ancestors been given the right to vote long before Lincoln made it right.

We would have arrived here much sooner had we been given the green light, or had men of lesser colour given those of colour their given right, to sit where they pleased, travelled as often and as freely as they wished, rather than demand that those of colour entered and exited at the back door like supporting artists in an off Broadway show.

We probably would have arrived here much sooner had we been left alone to make choices of our own, even if failing would have been the cause of our late arrival on foreign shores. But instead of being left alone to make those choices of our own, our ancestors were rudely forced to leave their islands and their home, which they then claimed as their own. And though our ancestors would later reclaim what was rightfully their's to own, there was no way of reclaiming those ancestors we have lost, nor those lost years erased from our past. If only we were left to make choices of our own, we probably would have arrived here much sooner, and in a manner more fitting to the kings and queens many of our past ancestors were.

No doubt we would have arrived here much sooner had someone of Rosa Parks stature appeared much sooner, or had others followed Ruby Bridges brave defiant stand, during her quest for broadening her mind through her early troubled years of learning of 1955, and though we are here now, just think how more advanced our troubled world would be, had we arrived here that much sooner.
